InComm, Dollar General to Offer Xbox Points, Memberships at POS (Dec. 17, 2012)
Dec. 17, 2012
Prepaid distribution and technology provider InComm has inked a deal with Dollar General to enable the retailer’s customers to more easily purchase points and memberships for Xbox LIVE in stores via InComm’s recently launched Digital Delivery Application (DDA). The new system eliminates the need for customers to purchase and redeem physical prepaid cards to earn memberships and points; instead, Dollar General cashiers will scan a UPC and generate a receipt that notes the number of points or membership level purchased and instructions for online redemption.
The deal marks Dollar General’s first major foray in the online video game category, said the retailer, which operates more than 10,300 stores in 40 states. In April, epay, the prepaid distribution arm of processor Euronet Worldwide, began offering a similar PIN on receipt delivery system for Xbox LIVE memberships and points.
