Standard Chartered poaches corporate finance head Burnett from UBS
Standard Chartered has appointed Peter Burnet as its regional head of corporate finance for northeast Asia. In his new role, Burnett will cover project and export finance, mergers and acquisitions advisory, structured trade finance, financing solutions and equity capital markets.
Based in Hong Kong, Burnett will report to Mark Dowie, group head of corporate finance. He will also work with Gene Kim, regional head, global markets NEA to ensure geographic and regulatory alignment.
Burnett joins Standard Chartered from UBS, where he was chairman of global capital markets for Asia. His experience with UBS goes back 24 years, and includes roles as head of equity capital markets for Asia and chief executive of the bank’s middle east investment banking business. Burnett and Dowie have worked together before, as co-heads of the bank’s investment banking business in Asia from 2000 to 2004.
“I’m very excited to be working with Peter again,” said Dowie. “His extensive business experience with long standing, deep client relationships, especially in Asia and the middle east, synergises very well with our business philosophy and focus.”
