Shell Canada Taps StoreFinancial for Gift Card Program (Aug. 26, 2013)

Shell Canada has launched a gift card program with StoreFinancial, which is providing processing and program management services. StoreFinancial is providing Shell with a restricted authorization network (RAN) card, along with its RASER card activation technology, which enables client retailers to sell and activate gift cards without a third-party distributor, regardless of the POS system. The technology also eliminates the need for any additional hardware or software for implementation—a key component to implementing the program at Shell Canada’s more than 1,100 locations throughout the country, according to StoreFinancial.
Shell Canada has contracted RPG Card Services Canada for card production, sales, marketing and fulfillment services for the gift card program. The non-reloadable cards are available for purchase in stores and online in denominations of C$10, C$25, C$50 and C$100. The cards can be used to purchase gas, convenience store items and car washes at any Shell Canada location. A corporate version of the card also is available.
Overland Park, Kans.-based StoreFinancial won a Paybefore Award earlier this year for its Etsy Gift Card, a private-label gift card accepted at thousands of sellers through the Etsy online marketplace. In April, the company unveiled the Fan Experience Card program, which enables sports teams to offer their fans a RAN prepaid card redeemable at any merchant inside or near the team’s stadium or arena.
