People on the Move: Steve Antonakes, Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (September 2013)

The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) recently announced that Steve Antonakes has been named deputy director of the agency. He had been serving as acting deputy director of the CFPB. He will continue to maintain responsibility for his duties as the associate director for supervision, enforcement and fair lending. Antonakes’ background includes more than 20 years as a financial services regulator. He joined the CFPB in November 2010 as the assistant director for large bank supervision. He has served as a voting member of the Federal Financial Institutions Examination Council, vice chairman of the Conference of State Bank Supervisors and as a founding member of the governing board of the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System.
