Pan Am-Branded Travel Card to Take Flight (Oct. 21, 2013)
Payments processor and program manager TransCard will release a new prepaid travel card branded by Pan Am Brands, a division of Pan American World Airways. The card will feature the iconic name and logo of Pan Am, one of the largest international air carriers in the U.S. between 1927 and 1991.
“We are excited to work with one of the most iconic brands in history,” said Craig Fuller, CEO, TransCard. “Pan Am stands for luxury and prestige—the same qualities we are building in our travel card offering.” The Pan Am Traveler Prepaid Card will support EMV protection to reduce cardholder inconvenience abroad while making mobile and contactless payments more secure. Other card features include comprehensive trip cancellation, 24-hour travel assistance and concierge service.
The announcement follows the March release of another EMV-enabled prepaid travel card by Chattanooga, Tenn.-based TransCard. Later that month, the company debuted a student-focused prepaid card. And in January, TransCard struck a deal to acquire HQ Gift Cards, the nation’s largest program manager of mall-based prepaid and gift cards, in a bid to expand its product offerings.
