Suze Orman Approves i2c for Prepaid Processing (Oct. 10. 2013)
Prepaid processor i2c Inc. has been chosen to provide processing services for The Approved Card from Suze Orman MasterCard. Redwood City, Calif.-based i2c will bolster the card with new features, including an integrated communications engine that responds in real-time to cardholders’ behavior with personalized messages to help them better manage their finances.
“Of the platforms we evaluated, i2c offered the most flexible and robust options for communicating with our customers,” said Orman, a personal finance expert and best-selling author. “Strong mobile capabilities and support for global markets were other key factors that made i2c the perfect fit for The Approved Card.”
With i2c on board as processor, the company will work with card issuer The Bancorp on further enhancements, focusing on the mobile channel, i2c said. New mobile features in the works include apps and money management tools that can be customized.
Released in early 2012, The Approved Card grew out of Orman’s desire to offer consumers a low-fee prepaid card. At launch, she was working with TransUnion to determine whether prepaid card transaction data could be useful to the credit bureaus in scoring thin- or no-file consumers. . This past January, The Approved Card was listed as among the best GPR cards on the market by Consumer Reports. The rankings took into account card usage costs, fee disclosures, cardholder security and convenience of use.
