McDonald’s Sweden Integrates SEQR Payments into Mobile App (March 12, 2014)
McDonald’s Sweden has integrated the SEQR payment service of Stockholm-based software development company Seamless into its own mobile app, enabling customers of the QSR to pay with SEQR. Customers choose SEQR within the McDonald’s app, and make purchases by scanning a QR code displayed at checkout and entering their PIN codes. The McDonald’s app has approximately 500,000 active users per month in Sweden, according to an announcement.
“We always want to deliver the best service to our guests, both in our restaurants and in our app. The app already included information on offers and our menu, complete with nutrition and allergy information, and engaging campaigns. Now our Swedish guests also can make smooth and fast payments through the app,” says Kajsa Dahlberg, McDonald’s Sweden head of digital engagement. To highlight the Seamless integration, McDonald’s is offering cheeseburgers for 1 SEK (US$0.16) to customers paying with SEQR.
Oakbrook, Ill.-based McDonald’s Corp. last November announced its mobile payment program with San Jose, Calif.-based PayPal would be available at all of its locations in France by the end of 2013. The service enables customers to use the McDonald’s mobile app or Website to order food, pay using PayPal and then pick up their orders at a special section of the restaurant counter dedicated to customers who prepaid.
