MasterCard to ‘Power’ TruCash’s New Canadian Reload Network (June 23, 2014)
MasterCard is continuing to expand the reach of its rePower reload network, partnering with DCR Strategies Inc./TruCash to enable reloads in Canada. The TruCash Reload Network, which launched June 21 at nationwide locations of telecom provider Gold Line, will expand to thousands of merchant locations by the end of the year, the companies said.
The new network will enable reloads via cash or other accepted forms of payment for all card programs enrolled in rePower. Cardholders swipe their cards at the POS and reloads are processed in real time through rePower, giving cardholders immediate access to funds.
The MasterCard rePower network is growing on both sides of the Atlantic. Since making its European debut in 2012 in the U.K., rePower has gone live in other European nations, including Italy, Poland and Spain. The network also has a considerable presence in the U.S., with more than 100,000 merchant locations via partnerships with Green Dot, Western Union and Walmart. Visa also has set its sights on the Canadian market; the company is in talks to expand its ReadyLink reload network into the country.
