Data veteran Dalglish takes transformation role at SmartStream
Industry veteran Tom Dalglish has joined SmartStream Technologies as head of transformation services, managing post-trade processing and data management projects for global clients. Initially he will be responsible for managing the back-office transformation programme at an unnamed European bank.
Dalglish is well-known as a data architect: for the past year he has been global head of transformation for Indian developer iGATE, where he designed and deployed a data utility strategy for the firm.
Before that he was chief technology officer for global data services at UBS, running a newly formed enterprise data group. Prior to UBS he held senior management positions for enterprise reference data initiatives including roles as chief information architect, enterprise reference data at Bank of America Merrill Lynch and executive director, enterprise reference data at JP Morgan/Bear Stearns.
He served on the board of the Enterprise Data Management Council from 2008-11.
Philippe Chambadal, chief executive at SmartStream, said he is “thrilled” to have hired Dalglish. “Many firms need to retool their current infrastructure to support new regulatory requirements and improve operational efficiency. The adoption of utilities is helping the industry on both accounts: by mutualising back-office functions such as EDM into shared centres of excellence, firms are able to reduce operational cost by 40 to 60% and respond faster to regulatory demands,” he said.
