ALINE Card by ADP Offers Tip-Settlement Feature (Nov. 20, 2014)
With active payroll cards and load amounts on the rise in the U.S., Paybefore-award winning ALINE Card by ADP has added a feature that could prove popular with service industries where employees receive tips as part of their pay. If employers offer the new capability, employees using the ALINE Card can have their tips—or commissions and per diems—loaded almost immediately onto their payroll cards. The feature enables employees to access and manage their pay in a faster, more efficient manner, and businesses can standardize and streamline their end-of-shift tip settlement process, according to the company. The feature is especially helpful for merchants that accept a high number of credit and debit card transactions and might not have the cash reserves on hand to pay out tips at the end of employee shifts.
“With more and more businesses in service-oriented industries, such as restaurants and salons, now offering to pay employee wages electronically, it makes sense for them to be able to pay their employees’ miscellaneous income electronically as well to help them move toward a fully electronic solution,” said Gary Lott, division vice president and general manager of wage payments for ADP Added Value Services.
Aite Group estimates 7.1 million active payroll cards are in the U.S., and the consultancy expects that number to jump to 10.8 million in 2017. Nearly $52 billion is expected to be loaded onto payroll cards this year, and Aite forecasts that total will grow to almost $69 billion in 2017.
