CPI Card Group Enables Banks to Participate in Any Wallet; Launches EMV Prepaid Card in Canada (Nov. 3, 2014)
Littleton, Colo.-based card producer CPI Card Group has launched CPIMobile to deliver secure, digital credentials to mobile phones for NFC payments using Sequent, a provider of digital issuance and an open wallet platform-as-a-service. The partnership gives CPI the ability to deliver to banks and other issuers a digital issuance solution enabling them to participate in almost any mobile wallet deployment, leveraging secure element (SE) and host card emulation (HCE) capabilities, and to enable their own banking apps for payments, according to an announcement. Sequent’s open wallet platform APIs enable banking apps to become wallets of their own by accessing cards in secure storage to make NFC mobile payments. Banks also can provide the same API functionality to merchants and other partners and distribute payment cards to multiple apps. Whether a consumer prefers to pay with their banking app or from their favorite coffee shop app, CPIMobile makes it possible using the same issuer credentials.
CPI Card Group also launched its first EMV prepaid card program in Canada with long standing-customer Berkeley Payment Solutions, one of the largest incentive program managers in Canada, for corporate Visa and MasterCard prepaid cards. Prepaid cards and mobile payments initiatives are thriving in Canada. For more details, click here.
