People on the Move: Patrick Murck, The Bitcoin Foundation
The Bitcoin Foundation, a nonprofit institution founded to promote bitcoin use, has appointed Patrick Murck executive director. Murck, formerly general counsel for the foundation, was a founding member and is most well-known as bitcoin’s first policy advocate, instrumental in explaining bitcoin to U.S. regulators. He replaces Jon Matonis, another foundation founding member, who has decided to step down as executive director. Matonis will remain on the board through the end of the year, and his board seat will be included in the January 2015 election, along with seats occupied by Peter Vessenes and Gavin Andresen.
