CFPB Seeks Comments on Financial Counseling Program (Jan. 12, 2015)
Comments are due Feb. 9, 2015, for a multisite program the CFPB plans to launch early this year to provide one-on-one and group financial counseling to individuals with disabilities transitioning into the workplace or who already are employed. One of the program’s goals, according to the CFPB, is to improve the financial skills of thousands of disabled individuals so they can navigate the financial marketplace, resulting in improved credit, reduced debt and increased savings.
The bureau said it will need to collect clients’ personally identifiable information, such as basic contact and demographic information, performance metrics and other relevant data. Monthly qualitative reports and quantitative aggregated individual data will be collected from participating sites to document the design, growth and impact of the program serving primarily low-income populations with disabilities.
