Ingenico Absorbs ROAM, Announces POS Partnership with TSYS (Jan. 22, 2015)
Ingenico Group, which already owned a controlling interest in m-POS provider ROAM, has purchased the remainder of the company and is now its sole owner, the France-based POS hardware maker announced this week. ROAM will maintain its headquarters in Boston and now operates as an Ingenico Mobile Solutions unit, the companies said. Ingenico sees an opportunity to expand its market share in North America, Thierry Denis, Ingenico Group North America’s president, said in a statement.
Separately, Ingenico and Columbia, Ga.-based TSYS today announced an agreement to jointly offer merchants a streamlined solution to accept all payment types, including magnetic stripe, EMV, NFC and Apple Pay. The two companies collaborated to develop a series of new products for merchants incorporating EMV chip cards along with encryption and tokenization to protect against payment card fraud, according to an announcement. “These new products ideally position TSYS and Ingenico Group to address the unprecedented demand for field upgrades that EMV and Apple Pay are creating,” said Bernie Frey, Ingenico Group senior vice president of acquirer sales for North America.
