Reminder: Important Industry Deadlines Ahead (Jan. 2, 2015)
With much of the holiday revelry come and gone, the payments industry must refocus on two important NPRMs and their respective comment periods, which already have begun.
On Dec. 30, 2014, the National Technical Information Service (NTIS) published its NPRM in the Federal Register that would create a certification program to replace the temporary certification program in place now for access to the Death Master File (DMF). The DMF is a tool used by many industries as a means to thwart fraud. Comments on the proposed rule are due Jan. 29, 2015. Comments can be submitted here.
The CFPB’s NPRM on prepaid accounts was published in the Federal Register Dec. 23, 2014. Comments must be received within 90 days, by March 23, 2015. Comments may be submitted using the Federal eRulemaking Portal; email: [email protected] and include Docket No. CFPB-2014-0031 and/or RIN 3170-AA22 in the subject line of the email; mail: Monica Jackson, Office of the Executive Secretary, Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, 1700 G Street NW, Washington, D.C. 20552; or by hand delivery/courier: Monica Jackson, Office of the Executive Secretary, Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, 1275 First Street NE, Washington, D.C. 20002.
