Monitise No Longer for Sale (March 25, 2015)
U.K.-based Monitise plc is no longer for sale. Earlier this year, the company put itself on the block after missing sales growth targets, but the mobile payments technology firm announced today that it’s off the market. “The board has concluded that the best way of maximizing long-term value for all stakeholders is to continue transforming and streamlining the business as an independent company,” Monitise said in a statement released today. Monitise also made some high-level board changes, announcing that Co-CEO Elizabeth Buse is the sole CEO of the company and Alastair Lukies, founder and co-CEO, is stepping down. Lukies will continue to serve as strategic adviser, the company said. Also, Stephen Shurrock, CEO of consumer at Telefónica’s commercial and digital unit, was appointed non-executive director representing shareholders Telefónica and Santander.
