People on the Move: Hiang Choong, Ling Hai and Ari Sarker, MasterCard
MasterCard has appointed Hiang Choong as division president, Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan, and two co-presidents for the Asia-Pacific region, Singapore-based Ling Hai and Ari Sarker.
Based in Hong Kong, Choong is responsible for all aspects of the business, including strategy, business development, operations, marketing and product introductions for the continued growth and expansion of MasterCard in Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan. He previously was chief of staff to the CEO of MasterCard based in New York. He has held various leadership roles within the company, including head of legal for MasterCard’s Asia-Pacific and Middle East & Africa regions, where he led a team that provided comprehensive legal, regulatory, public policy and compliance support across both regions.
Hai is president of Northeast Asia and Australasia sub-region. He most recently was group executive of enterprise development, international markets for MasterCard. He joined MasterCard in 2010 as division president of greater China and has more than 22 years of industry experience in financial services and consulting across a number of markets.
Sarker is president of the Southeast Asia and South Asia sub-region. He has been with MasterCard for more than four years and was most recently MasterCard’s division president for South Asia and country corporate officer, India. He also has more than 22 years of experience spanning the finance, commercial and M&A sectors across key markets in the Americas, Europe and Asia-Pacific.
