People on the Move: Stefano Pessina, Walgreens Boots Alliance Inc.
Walgreens Boots Alliance Inc., pharmacy, health and well-being company, announced that its board of directors has named Stefano Pessina as CEO. Pessina had been serving as acting CEO since January. He will continue reporting to Executive Chairman James Skinner.
“In Walgreens Boots Alliance’s initial six months as a newly combined company, Stefano has done an extraordinary job leading the new enterprise, focusing our strategy while enhancing our financial performance,” said Skinner. Deerfield, Ill.-based Walgreens Boots Alliance was created through the combination of Walgreens and Switzerland-based Alliance Boots in December 2014.
