The CFPB to Host Arbitration Hearing in Denver (Sept. 24, 2015)
The CFPB has announced a field hearing on arbitration, which will be held in Denver on Wednesday, Oct. 7 at 11 a.m. MDT. The hearing will include remarks from Director Richard Cordray, as well as testimony from consumer groups, industry representatives and members of the public. The event is open to the public, but requires an RSVP to [email protected].
The hearing follows a March arbitration study the CFPB released after three years of research on how arbitration clauses are used in six consumer finance markets: credit cards, checking accounts, prepaid cards, payday loans, private student loans and mobile wireless contracts. Previous CFPB field hearings have accompanied major announcements or rulemakings from the bureau.
