InComm, Scientific Games Partner to Offer Lottery Gift Cards (Oct. 19, 2015)
With the holiday season approaching, consumers will be able to purchase lottery gift cards through an InComm partnership with Scientific Games International. The Atlanta-based prepaid product and technology provider signed a five-year deal with Scientific Games to provide lottery gift cards in North America. Scientific Games is a subsidiary of Scientific Games Corp., a Las Vegas-based developer of technology-based products and services for worldwide gaming, lottery and interactive markets. InComm’s single-load prepaid gift cards can be used at any participating lottery retailer that has been authorized by a state lottery offering the gift card, according to an announcement.
“The ways consumers purchase and use gift cards are rapidly changing,” said Scott Meyerhoff, InComm chief operating officer. “In addition to being bought on special occasions for family and friends, gift cards are also bought year-round for self-use. Our agreement with Scientific Games is visionary for the North American lottery industry in many ways, particularly resonating with consumers who prefer cashless transactions at retail.”
InComm’s payment network and retail footprint combined with Scientific Games’ lottery solutions offer lotteries a way to reach new consumers who might like to purchase lottery games, as well as help drive incremental revenue for lottery beneficiaries such as retailers and state education departments, among others, according to Pat McHugh, senior vice president, North American lottery systems, Scientific Games. He added that lottery retail locations generally don’t overlap with InComm’s 250,000 retail gift card distribution locations in North America, which could offer new retail channel opportunities and provide more consumer exposure to lottery games.
