People on the Move: Jack Dorsey and Adam Bain, Twitter Board
Twitter’s board of directors has appointed Jack Dorsey CEO. He is co-founder of Twitter and had been serving as interim CEO since July. He will continue to serve as a member of the board but will no longer act as chairman, a position he’d held since October 2008, according to an SEC filing. Dorsey served as Twitter’s president and CEO from May 2007 to October 2008 and will continue to serve as CEO of Square Inc., the payments and financial services company he co-founded in 2009, and will remain on Square’s board. Square is expected to go public later this year.
Twitter’s board also named Adam Bain chief operating officer, according to the filing. He has served as Twitter’s president, global revenue and partnerships from September 2010 to October 2015. He previously served in various roles at News Corporation, including executive vice president of products and technology and as president of its advertising arm, Fox Audience Network Inc.
