HSBC payments head to take the helm at CHAPS
Tim Fitzpatrick has been appointed as the new chief executive of CHAPS, the UK’s same day high-value payment system. Currently HSBC’s Global Payments and Cash Management chief operating officer and group head of payment services.
Fitzpatrick started his career at Price Waterhouse and joined HSBC in 1991. During his career he has held a number of senior roles in trade services, transaction banking and latterly in payment services.
He will take up the post in January, taking over from Mark Hale who has been acting as interim chief executive since June this year. Hale continues in his role as chief executive of UK Payments Administration, the service company for the payments and financial sector.
