People on the Move: Anil Aggarwal, Blackhawk Network Board
Blackhawk Network has named Anil Aggarwal to the company’s board of directors. Effective Feb. 22, 2016, Aggarwal’s appointment brings Blackhawk’s total number of board members to 11. He also will serve as a member of the company’s nominating and corporate governance committee. A payments industry veteran with more than 15 years of experience as an entrepreneur, investor and executive, Aggarwal currently is a venture partner at growth equity firm Oak HC/FT, as well as CEO and chairman of new commerce industry event Shoptalk. Aggarwal previously co-founded TxVia, a payments technology company that was acquired by Google in 2012, and Money20/20, which has grown to become one of the payments and financial services industry’s biggest events. He also helped found Prepaid Media, which is now Paybefore, an IIR USA company. In addition, Aggarwal founded and served as the first chairman of the NBPCA. Aggarwal was named 2012 Paybefore Awards Industry Achievement winner.
Aggarwal’s appointment is Blackhawk’s second big leadership move in the past month. In February, the company announced that Talbott Roche would add the title of CEO to her existing role as president of Blackhawk—a position she’s held for more than five years.
“Anil is an early pioneer in financial technology and payments innovation,” Roche said of Aggarwal’s appointment. “His proven experience as a startup tech entrepreneur, venture capital investor, executive at Google and as an industry-builder with Money20/20 and Shoptalk enable him to bring valuable industry and business insights to Blackhawk’s board of directors.”
