Tuxedo Enters U.S. Market with Central Bank of Kansas City
Tuxedo Money Solutions is bringing its Paybefore Award-winning STA Travel ISIC Prepaid MasterCard to the U.S. Tapping Central Bank of Kansas City (CBKC) as its issuer, Tuxedo is entering the U.S. market following rapid international growth in Europe, Australia and the Middle East over the past 12 months, according to Tuxedo CEO John Sharman. The U.K.-based company originally announced its plans to enter the U.S. market last year when it selected i2c as its processor.
Tuxedo and STA Travel initially are launching the program with universities offering study abroad programs. Students and their universities will be able to preload their cards in U.S. dollars and use it internationally and receive more than 45,000 ISIC discounts worldwide and 125,000 domestically.
“The controls and security available with the ISIC Prepaid MasterCard makes it an ideal solution for young international travelers,” Trent Sorbe, president of CBKC’s Central Payments Division, tells Paybefore. “The level of collaboration we have with Tuxedo Money Solutions, STA Travel and i2c is a great illustration of our unique approach to issuing.”
