Nets’ mobile wallet gets nod from Danish banking collective
Nordic digital payments firm Nets has been selected by a Danish banking collective to launch a new NFC mobile wallet solution.
The collective, known as the Bokis partnership, includes 62 banks that form the small to mid-sized banks segment of Lokale Pengeinstitutter (the Association of Local Banks, Savings Banks and Co-operative Banks in Denmark), together with five Danish regional banks: Jyske Bank, Sydbank, Spar Nord Bank, Arbejdernes Landsbank and Nykredit Bank.
The Bokis mobile wallet solution, powered by host card emulation (HCE) and tokenisation, will be available to all customers of participating banks, which “collectively represent a significant proportion” of Danish cardholders.
Søren Nicolaisen, managing director, Danish Regional Bankers Association, says: “We are excited to be the first in Denmark to announce our plans to deliver bank-issued mobile wallets from our members.”
Nets’ gain
Earlier this year, Nets and JCB teamed up for Nets to use J/Speedy, JCB’s contactless technology, for Dankort payments with smartphones. Nets will launch Dankort on the mobile in autumn 2016, and JCB is also aiming to accelerate its mobile payment implementation globally using HCE technology.
Nets shouldn’t be confused with NETS. The latter is Network for Electronic Transfers Singapore, which recently partnered with Wirecard Singapore, part of Wirecard Group, to provide a single terminal payment solution for Singapore government agencies.
