People on the Move: Dennis Lockhart, Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta
Dennis Lockhart, president and CEO of the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta, has announced his intention to step down from his position effective Feb. 28, 2017. After nearly 10 years of service at the Atlanta Fed, Lockhart plans to continue to pursue interests in public policy, civic work and private business.
In line with the Federal Reserve Act and Board of Governors policy, a search committee consisting of non-banking members of the Atlanta Fed’s board of directors will conduct a nationwide search, seeking a diverse slate of candidates to replace Lockhart as president. The bank has retained Spencer Stuart, an executive search firm, to assist in the search effort. There is no set timetable for naming a new president. Should a successor not be appointed by Feb. 28, 2017, the Bank’s first vice president and chief operating officer, Marie Gooding, will assume the duties of president on an interim basis until a new president is appointed.
