People on the Move: Matthias Setzer, PayU
Online payment service provider PayU has appointed Matthias Setzer as its global chief commercial officer. In the Germany-based role, Setzer will be responsible for leading PayU’s global sales and managing business development and strategic partnerships. He also will help lead the expansion of the company’s credit strategy across its key markets and act as a sponsor for PayU’s global layer initiative, which the company says will enable global merchants to serve new customers with next generation API technology.
Setzer joins PayU after spending 12 years with PayPal Inc., most recently as the company’s senior director of strategic partnerships and business development for EMEA. Prior to that role, he worked for Lycos Europe and Bertelsmann in project management and business development roles.
