SNS Bank selects Ohpen for BPO core processing services
Amsterdam-based banking software vendor Ohpen has signed a long-term outsourcing agreement with Dutch state-owned bank SNS to deliver its business process outsourcing (BPO) solutions to support the investment propositions of ASN Bank, BLG Wonen, RegioBank and SNS.
The services, underpinned by Ohpen’s Microsoft.Net-based core banking platform, will start by the end of 2017.
Ohpen CCO Matthijs Aler says signing the agreement with SNS Bank “marks a milestone for our company”.
SNS Bank will be renamed de Volksbank as from 1 January 2017 because it wants to be a “social, people-oriented and sustainable bank”.
“No commercial activities will be undertaken under the name of de Volksbank itself”, according to Maurice Oostendorp, chairman of the board of directors of de Volksbank.
Instead, the four brands, ASN Bank, BLG Wonen, RegioBank and SNS will “continue to operate” under the banking licence of de Volksbank. The banking licences of ASN Bank and RegioBank will subsequently lapse as at 31 December 2016. It doesn’t say what will happen with the other two. Having one licence will make business operations of de Volksbank “simpler and more efficient”.
One is Ohpen
Ohpen currently has one known live site – Robeco, a domestic asset management firm – which replaced its 25 year-old legacy systems with the Ohpen’s back office and CRM platforms in 2013.
The bulk of the Ohpen team comes from independent Dutch broker BinckBank. The company gained private equity and set out to build its system in early 2010.
