Starling Bank developer portal goes live
UK challenger bank Starling has unveiled its developer portal to enable third parties to access customer data and build on top of its platform using APIs.
As Banking Technology previously reported, Starling launched its mobile app and is welcoming the first customers through its digital doors to join a beta testing programme. It also recently concluded its first hackathon, opening up its APIs to outside developers.
In this latest development, the banks says its public APIs is in “keeping with the ambitions of PSD2 and the Open Banking initiative”, and will enable external developers to create products and services that work together with Starling’s banking app.
Products and tools integrated with the bank’s APIs will be put onto its “marketplace” – where users can access these additional services.
Starling says whilst integrations with money apps and technology platforms are expected in the first instance – such as money advice chatbots or spending analytics – in the future, the capabilities will extend for lifestyle, retail and wellness products that could integrate with other apps, wearables or even the internet of things (IoT).
