New edtech project for financial services, CFTE, launches
The Centre for Finance, Technology and Entrepreneurship (CFTE), a new educational platform for the finance industry, has been unveiled.
“In a tech world, we bet on people,” CFTE states.
It aims to “support finance professionals to adapt to a rapidly changing industry”, the founders say, and is described as an “edtech platform” that combines online modules with in-class learning.
The initiative will “equip finance professionals with a comprehensive understanding of the digital shift that is dramatically transforming finance”.
The platform – “designed around lifetime learning” – will be available globally and accessible from September 2017.
The organisation is in the process of building a global network of academics, banks and financial institutions, start-ups, fintech experts and other industry participants to design the curriculum and deliver the content.
“We are convinced that innovation and technology are important to the future of finance, but we want to make sure that people remain at the centre of everything,” says CFTE’s co-founder, Tram Anh Nguyen.
“We are creating CFTE to liberalise knowledge for all to access and build a better future for themselves.”
Huy Nguyen Trieu, co-founder of CFTE and CEO of The Disruptive Group, adds: “Artificial intelligence (AI) and automation are rapidly transforming finance, and have a huge impact on jobs.
“For finance professionals, this could be seen as a threat to their jobs, but we think that there are great opportunities for those who acquire the right skills.”
Claire Calmejane, director of innovation and centre of excellence at Lloyds Banking Group, and Janos Barberis, founder and CEO of Hong Kong-based SuperCharger FinTech Accelerator, are on the CFTE advisory and academic board, with further members to be announced in the coming weeks.
