Geoswift, UnionPay and Western Union Vie for Chinese International Tuition Payments with Amazon Promotion
As students gear up for back to school, the competition for international tuition payments continues to heat up. Geoswift, UnionPay International and Western Union Business Solutions are offering Amazon gift cards to Chinese students studying in 14 countries that make cross-border tuition payments using Geoswift’s PayTuitionNow portal.
The promotion, which runs through March 31, 2018, offers an Amazon gift card worth RMB 100 (US$15) for every tuition payment valued at RMB 10,000 (US$1,500) or above. The companies say they also have enhanced the user experience, offering payment history at a glance, tracking of all payments and “a fully automated refund process.”
Geoswift says Chinese students account for about 25 percent of all international students. The promotion is available to UnionPay cardholders studying in the U.S., the U.K., Canada, New Zealand, France, Australia, Switzerland,
Singapore, Japan, the Czech Republic and Ireland.
Cai Jianbo, CEO of UnionPay International, said “the UnionPay payment service system for students studying abroad is improving constantly.” Education payment is a feature service of UnionPay cross-border online payment, he said. The company also is expanding its acceptance network in and near renowned schools by promoting products like mobile QuickPass QR code payment.
Geoswift, which is headquartered in Hong Kong, is an acquirer of UnionPay International in North America.
