Banco Santander makes Mioti move for IoT education

Banco Santander, through Santander Universities and Fundación Universia, will work with internet of things (IoT) institute Mioti to provide training grants and courses in the growing IoT sector.
Madrid-based Mioti, “the first 100% IoT institute in Spain”, is a place for companies, entrepreneurs and start-ups to develop their ideas. Banco Santander becomes one of four partners for this initiative together with Vodafone, IBM and Italian multinational manufacturer Enel.
The scholarships are “aimed at people with disabilities interested in the methods, processes and systems to extract knowledge or a better understanding of data in their different forms, and to know in depth the incipient IoT ecosystem”.
The first step is the development of several grants from Fundación Universia to study data science and IoT. For example, students will be able to get financing for 75% of the total cost of the 120-hour programme. No more details on later steps yet.
Banco Santander is no stranger to offering such education as it maintains more than 1,100 collaboration agreements with universities and institutions in 21 countries.
Fundación Universia is a private non-profit organisation promoted by Universia, the “largest university network in the world”, made up of 1,401 universities in 23 countries, whose activities are sponsored by Banco Santander through Santander Universities.
Fundación Universia was established in 2005, and its main purpose is to “promote inclusive higher education and access to qualified employment for people with disabilities”.
