Schroders first in Singapore to launch asset manager chatbot
Schroders Singapore has launched a beta version of Schroders GO, its online chatbot operating through Facebook Messenger.
The chatbot was built in partnership with a Singapore-based start-up, pand.ai. According to Schroders, the chatbot allows clients to access information on any funds as well as market information.
Susan Soh, country head of Schroders Singapore, says Schroders GO “is the first asset manager in Singapore to digitalise the investor service” and that its “chatbot is unique due to its ability to offer information about Schroders, but also fetch information on other similar funds for comparison”.
Currently, the chatbot can process four types of inquiries:
- Fund-related queries; account information
- Questions about Schroders as a firm; offices/location
- External market information; foreign exchange
- General queries; adding personalisation to the interaction
Using deep learning and natural language capabilities, the chatbot self-learns and can answer contextual questions, similarly to Amazon’s Alexa and Google Home. Currently, it is available in English, but Schroders says it can understand colloquial Singaporean English, Singlish.
The beta version of the chatbot was launched in collaboration with the asset manager’s distribution partners – Citi, Income, UOB and Synergy Financial Advisers.
The full version of Schroders GO is expected to launch early 2018.
