Interstellar crypto exchange sets its sights on the stars
Cameroon-based Fintech Ltd is seeking to making headway on our planet with its Interstellar crypto exchange.
The firm’s name may cause confusion over time, but its CEO Ernest Mbenkum is very clear. He says for the past few months it has been working on creating its largest ever update to its crypto decentralised wallet and exchange app.
Interstellar v2.0 introduces new features, including semi-automatic asset/token verification, price conversions for any token into all major fiat currencies, and a new set of desktop applications for increased security of a user’s assets.
Interstellar is powered by the Stellar network. Users can deposit, withdraw and trade Stellar Lumens (XLM), Ripple (XRP), Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), and Litecoin (LTC). Users can also send, receive or trade any other Stellar based token including Mobius (MOBI), Smartlands (SLT), SureRemit (RMT), Tempo (EURT).
In a heavenly use of words, Fintech Ltd calls it the Proxima Centauri update.
Interstellar for Android landed a few months ago and now the start-up has unveiled a new set of desktop apps. Users can download and use Interstellar for Windows Desktop, Interstellar For Mac OSX, and an HTLM5 version of Interstellar.
Mbenkum says: “Even though users can access Interstellar from any modern browser on any operating system, using the Android and desktop apps gives users better protection against man-in-the-middle DNS attacks.”
He adds that the desktop and Android versions also makes the wallet more decentralised and less reliant on Interstellar’s web servers.
Security on crypto exchanges have become a major concern, and the company says while users can trade the “full spectrum” of coins and tokens that the Stellar network has to offer (via its search feature), assets on the Interstellar recommended list are “guaranteed to be entirely safe from fraud”. These are “curated” by experts and “always updated”.
FinTech Ltd was incorporated in Cameroon in March 2017 as a service provider for blockchain and cryptocurrency solutions. The firm is based in the capital, Yaoundé.
