Monzo challenges Starling with joint account launch
UK challenger bank Monzo confirmed to FinTech Futures that its joint accounts were currently being tested and they would be rolling out “soon” (™).
This confirmation came after FinTech Futures spotted a tweet by a user that included a screenshot of his phone, with the words “Joint Account” somewhere in its Monzo app.
I’ve recently made the switch to @monzo and honestly can’t recommend it enough. The way that banking should be. Easy, transparent, no having to phone, instant notifications, no pending transactions, free to use abroad and cool emojis! 😂 Not an ad, just really loving it so far. pic.twitter.com/6VAXZTBKdj

Monzo has been teasing joint accounts for a while in forums and on Twitter, saying it “would come sometime in 2018”, but until now we didn’t know the stage of the development.
As it tends to happen with Monzo, it is likely that only some selected users have access at this moment.
To put this launch in context, Starling rolled out its joint accounts just over a month ago, and it has seen quite a bit of traction.
Starling also is going through a bit of a revamp in design, which we suspect is an attempt to stand out just like Monzo’s coral-coloured cards have.
