Chase Bank chasing mobile market with ATM move
Chase Bank ATMs now allow customers to withdraw cash using their phones’ mobile wallet and NFC capabilities.
The bank’s ATM network has around 16,000 terminals throughout the US, but customers can also use ATM vestibules from outside the bank.
This means no cards or user verification PIN: users can tap their smartphone on the ATM. All Chase debit or Liquid card customers can use the mobile wallet on the Chase mobile app.
“Cardless no longer means cashless,” says Sol Gindi, chief administrative officer of consumer banking at Chase. “As more of our customers are using digital wallets to pay, we’re pleased to be able to provide them with the same experience at the ATM.”
Chase Bank is JP Morgan Chase’s foray into digital and mobile banking, and aims to offer customers full mobile services.
This includes merchant payments, deposit cheques, P2P payments with Zelle etc. For the main bank, JP Morgan Chase, customers can use its mobile app under the name of Finn – very cool name, guys.
The group’s payments system is also another move into mobile territory, with the (not very original) name of Chase Pay.
