Commercial Bank of Ethiopia debuts ACI’s retail payments solution
Commercial Bank of Ethiopia (CBE) has gone live with ACI Worldwide’s UP Retail Payments solution.
CBE aims to drive the country’s move toward becoming a cashless economy, the vendor says. The bank is using ACI’s UP Retail Payments solution to optimise its payments environment and legacy systems.
“ACI’s broad footprint and understanding of our region, proven and reliable payments offerings, and track record of success make it an ideal technology partner,” believes Addis Tilaye, director, project management, CBE.
“Africa has long been regarded an incredibly advanced nation when it comes to financial innovation, and Ethiopia’s move toward a cashless economy further reinforces this recognition,” says Manish Patel, general manager MEASA, ACI Worldwide.
CBE is the largest commercially-owned bank in the country. For its core banking software, it runs Temenos’ T24.
is this a joke.. Move Ethiopia to a cashless society. When 2090??
Ethiopia-s banking system is barely into the.20th century.
Acceptance of credit cards is tiny,
ATMS exist but are massively unreliable.
Yesterday i tried 6 CBE ATMs none were working. Pull the other one.
Until ELPA can provide consistent electricity supply and ETC much better quality internet, Mr Manish Patel is living in cloud cuckoo land.
Ethiopian banking has a long way. Commercial Bank gives very poor service on it’s ATM. I will not be surprised if 30% of them are not down at any time. Shame! Shame! Shame!!!
