Selangor government unveils one-stop digital payments platform
Malaysian state, Selangor, saw its government announce the launch of an all-in-one digital payments platform through which people can pay all government agencies, writes Jane Connolly.
Fintech Malaysia reports that with the Citizens Electronic Payments Platform (CEpat), Selangor residents will be able to make payments to agencies at all levels. This will enable them to take care of charges ranging from zakat (mandatory charitable contribution) to parking, all through one platform.
Malaysia has over 40 e-wallet solutions and chief minister, Amirudin bin Shari, says he hopes the platform will enable all of these. The government aims to make all state and local government services accessible through a single digital platform by 2022.
People can sign up to the web version of CEpat already, but it will be available for download from Google Play Store and Apple App Store from 1 October.
Smart Selangor Delivery Unit collaborated with local councils, state agencies, financial institutions and e-wallet providers to develop CEpat.
