UK firms Oval and Seedrs build ‘first’ in-app fintech investment opportunity
Digital money manager and automatic investment platform Oval Money has partnered with equity crowdfunding platform Seedrs to pave the way for Europe’s fintech users to be able to invest in start-ups through their apps.
The UK-based companies are starting with a £1 million crowdfunding round conducted by Oval on Seedrs. The firms are using an API which allows the funding round to take place simultaneously on the Oval app and the Seedrs site.
App-based investors will be able to register, become authorised and invest in Oval’s funding round all in the fintech’s app, without having to leave it.
“Our vision for Seedrs is to be a part of the wider fintech ecosystem, allowing investors to access this exciting asset class from anywhere, whether that’s their bank or their favourite fintech app,” says Seedrs’ CTO Ricardo Brizido, who believes APIs play “a crucial role” in the integration of private marketplaces with more mainstream channels.

This funding round for Oval follows a £4 million investment from asset manager Eurizon Capital last month.
The fintech says its goal is to give users access to different asset classes and investment opportunities, as well as helping them to be smarter with spending and future investments.
The partnership with Seedrs not only gives Oval users the ease of in-app investment opportunities, but also adds early-stage private equity to their investment portfolios.
