Deutsche Bank launches motion code Calma Card with Mastercard in Spain
Deutsche Bank and Mastercard are launching what they’re saying is the first Spanish card to use motion code technology.
Called the Calma Deutsche Bank Card, it will allow the security code – what is labeled as the CVC on the back of the card – to change every four hours to “significantly increase” the bank’s overall security level in the region.
Otherwise known as a Dynamic Security Code, it will use “a complex algorithm” only the card issuer understands to modify the code on “an extra-flat screen” at the back of the card.
In a bid to make online shopping safer, Mastercard says the every-four-hour change “invalidates cloning or data theft in online transactions”.

Recognising that e-commerce “is gaining importance”, Deutsche Bank’s head of cards Luis Miegimolle says the bank is “very happy to be pioneers in Spain with this [motion code] technology”.
The Calma Card also offers insurance cover for theft or robbery, promising to return the amount of purchases stolen. In the case of non-delivery or “disagreement” over an online transaction, the customer will also be reimbursed.
As for market prices, if a cardholder finds an item purchased at a lower price somewhere else, the difference in the amount between both products will be returned.
