Celebrating Finovate’s #WomeninFinTech
On International Women’s Day, Finovate’s Greg Palmer wrote, “for fintech to be for everyone, it needs to be from everyone”.
It’s a line that will strike a chord with anyone, across industries, who find themselves in the minority within teams and businesses, or even the sole representative of a different background or perspective.
Addressing gender-gap challenges in the finance industry is ongoing, and a key part of this is providing a platform for women to share their insights and vision for the future of fintech. As part of this endeavor, we brought together some of the leading women from FinovateEurope to share their thoughts not only on issues on diversity in the workplace, but also on the key pain points in their field and their ideas on how to overcome them.
First, Dr. Louise Beaumont, Co-Chair, Open Banking & Payments Working Group at Tech UK and Chair of the Open Banking Industry Stage of FinovateEurope on the future of open finance, why banks need to believe they are trusted and creating a full data daisy.
Ghela Boskovich, Founder, FemTechGlobal and Chair of the Digital Future Industry Stage explores why culture is the cornerstone on which financial institutions build from and the need for more public education around data.
Theo Lau, Founder at Unconventional Ventures and Chair of our Future Tech Industry Stage explores the challenges AI presents to legacy businesses and gender diversity in fintech.
Simone Vroegop, Head of European Product Management, Financial Technology at Brown Brothers Harriman discusses why it is crucial to have an open mind and look to where value can be added to an asset managers operating system, and why she’s surprised that hasn’t been more disruption in the sector.
Isil Ugurlu, Head of Payment, elumeo SE sits down with Adela Knox, Head of Content & Delivery, Finovate, to discuss diversity in fintech and the steps European Women Payments Network to tackle the unbalance in the industry, as well as her take on the future of payments.
