bunq launches shared ‘bunq +1’ accounts for parents and businesses
bunq, the Dutch challenger bank live across large parts of Europe, has launched ‘bunq +1, its shared account offering for Premium and Business customers.
The additional accounts can be created for adults or children, and business users can create multiple accounts for employees to help track expenses and spending.
The +1 will get their own bunq card, be able to deposit money and make transactions.
From 23 April, Premium and Business users can add as many bunq +1s as they want for a flat fee of €2.99 each month.
“At bunq we are inspired by our users to create new features that makes life easier,” says founder and CEO Ali Niknam.
“By listening to their feedback, we have developed this elegant solution that makes shared finances easy for children, (co-)workers and partners all in one go.”

Businesses will be able to issue all or some of their employees cards and track their spending through the app.
For parents, this offering will allow them to create accounts for their children which they can track in real-time. bunq says the feature will also help parents teach their children how to handle money responsibly.
bunq, founded in 2012, landed one of the first European banking permits in more than 35 years. Founder Niknam, who also founded the third biggest domain name and web hosting provider in the world, TransIP, is the company’s sole investor and has put €44.9 million in it to date.
Earlier this month the challenger promised to give its users the tools to become “CO2 free” in less than two years. The November launch of its Green Card has since seen more than 100,000 trees planted for every €100 spent.
