Sony Bank picks OneSpan for mobile banking security
Japan-based Sony Bank has selected OneSpan as the provider of security solutions for its mobile banking services.
Sony Bank launched an English-language digital banking service earlier this week via its Moneykit platform, and it appears that OneSpan will be underpinning the new system’s security.
According to OneSpan, the bank was able to address “both customer experience and security” by launching its banking app and securing it using OneSpan’s mobile software development kits (SDKs).
OneSpan is providing application security, biometric authentication and application shielding through its Mobile Security Suite.
Sony Bank’s senior manager in the systems planning department, Shuchiro Sumimoto, says that addressing security and customer convenience was key for his firm.
“The technology comprehensively protects the device and the application, while providing an easy way for our customers to complete mobile transactions.”
Founded in 2001, Sony Bank reports just over 500,000 customers. The bank is majority owned by Sony and its financial holdings group.
