Lucy Hagues steps in as Capital One UK CEO
Capital One has appointed Lucy Hagues as its new UK chief executive officer (CEO), succeeding the US-bound, Amy Lenander.
Hagues will be responsible for the overall strategic direction and general management of the UK credit card business.
She joined Capital One after completing its graduate programme in 2000. Prior to her appointment as UK CEO, Hagues spent three years as chief marketing officer.
“Having worked closely with Lucy for a number of years, I am delighted she has been chosen as our new UK CEO,” says Lenander, who moves to the US in an expanded role.
“Lucy will be the first head of this business to have advanced from graduate to CEO all in the UK, which is a wonderful testament to Capital One’s commitment to developing talent.”
Lenander adds that Hagues “knows our business, our people, and our culture incredibly well”, something she thinks makes the incoming CEO “exactly the right person to lead”.
Hagues says that the company’s “sense of purposes” has been crucial to supporting customers through the COVID-19 pandemic.
“It is always important that people feel confident when managing their finances, never more so than now. I look forward to continuing to help our customers make informed financial choices in the years ahead.”
