Barclaycard and SAP extend partnership to combine Commerce Cloud and Smartpay
Barclaycard Payments has extended its contract with SAP to enable the latter’s clients to use its payments gateway product, Smartpay.
Any business signed up to SAP’s software-as-a-service (SaaS) offering, Commerce Cloud, can access Smartpay.
SAP says user will be able to take advantage of “frictionless customer experience and bolstered fraud defences”.
The deal is the latest in an ongoing partnership between the two companies. In February 2019 the pair collaborated to incorporate Barclaycard’s Precisionpay system into the SAP Ariba Network.
“This expansion of our partnership with SAP opens up big opportunities not only for us, but also for the many businesses that use the SAP Commerce Cloud across Europe,” says Marc Pettican, president of Barclaycard Payments.
“They will gain access to a leading payment gateway and will be able to offer customers a smooth, safe and seamless checkout experience.”
Charlie Platt, vice president and head of strategic customers at SAP UK, hails the deal as an “innovative agreement.”
He adds that the expansion “demonstrates the power” of the partnership between the two companies.
“SAP Commerce Cloud customers can now deploy a trusted and market-leading payment gateway solution that can help to grow their businesses.”
