Barclays appoints Taalib Shaah as new group CRO
Barclays has appointed Taalib Shaah as its new group chief risk officer (CRO).
Shaah joins the bank’s executive committee and will report to Jes Staley, the group chief executive officer (CEO). He starts his new position on 5 October 2020.
Shaah is currently CRO for Barclays International. He joined the bank as CRO for its investment division in 2014.
Before joining Barclays, Shaah was at Citigroup, where he was CRO for market risk, real estate and treasury. He has also held positions at Credit Suisse.
“Taalib has a long and well-established track record,” says Staley.
“I am delighted that we are able to promote such a talented and experienced professional from within our own ranks to this critically important role.”
This is Barclays second senior appointment in recent months, having hired Manual Esteve as its new head of equity capital markets in August.
