Advanzia Bank signs Backbase to power three new mobile apps
Digital bank Advanzia has signed a partnership agreement with systems provider Backbase for the latter’s Backbase-as-a-Service (BaaS) platform.
Advanzia has used the Backbase system to launch three new mobile applications in France, Austria, and Spain.
All three applications offer real-time transactions, balance overview, monthly billing statements, and biometric login.
The bank says it will launch “a range” of additional functionalities and self-service features aimed at “facilitating better customer communications”.
Advanzia CEO Roland Ludwig says the deal with Backbase means “transforming the entire enterprise platform into a state-of-the-art, holistic digital banking platform”.
He adds: “Backbase allows us to offer our customers a seamless experience across all touchpoints, spanning every product and every market we operate in.
“This will not only completely transform the customer experience, but will also provide us with the necessary technology and capabilities to respond quickly to future growth opportunities.”
The bank’s new app launches are a “key part” of its omni-channel growth strategy. The mobile bank aims to harmonise all of its underlying processes through the use of unified APIs.
Advanzia factfile
Founded in 2005 in Luxembourg, Advanzia started life as an EU-based offshoot of Norwegian lender Bankia.
Advanzia caters primarily to Luxembourgish, German, Austrian, Spanish and French clients.
The bank’s core banking is run by Temenos. It signed the Swiss vendor to replace its legacy system with a Microsoft-based version of T24 (now Transact) in 2015.
Jouk Pleiter, CEO at Backbase, says its technology has helped the bank “build a single concept for a brand-new app and then deploy it consistently across multiple markets”.
The vendor recently oversaw the launch of a business-focused app with Mauritius Commercial Bank. Backbase claims the application went live after just six months of development.
Vietnam’s Tien Phong Commercial Joint Stock Bank went live with a Backbase system in September.
