NumberX plans Mastercard for multi-account payments
Fintech NumberX plans to launch with a Mastercard customers can use to spend from any of their bank accounts.
The firm was founded by former Revolut country manager Claudio Wilhelmer and ex-Anyline revenue officer Matthias Seiderer.
NumberX utilises open banking to connect all of a users’ bank accounts to a single Mastercard, similar to UK operator Curve.
The firm says its customers can set monthly spending limits, and use the card worldwide for payments and cash withdrawals.
NumberX charges a subscription fee for its services, which include a physical card. It has partnered with processor PPS to underpin its technology.
“Traditional banks hardly offer any modern solutions for the digital lifestyle of a young generation,” says Wilhelmer. “The price-performance ratio is simply not right.”
Seiderer adds: “The banking world has problems responding to the needs of customers and their desire for financial freedom.
“We are the easy-to-understand link between the old banking world and new financial technologies. The current accounts of the users remain with their bank, where the trust is high.”
NumberX plans an initial launch in Germany and Austria. Non-binding pre-registration is now open on the fintech’s website.
Customers who “successfully invite” a new user by 31 March 2021 receives the service free of charge.
