Piraeus Bank extends Antelop partnership for digital payments
Piraeus Bank, one of the largest banks in Greece, has selected Antelop Solutions as its new digital payments partner.
The bank wants to provide its customers with a range of digital card and mobile payments solutions.
Nikos Petrakis, director of cards at the bank, calls Piraeus a “pioneer in digital banking” due to it being the first in the Greek market to launch an online channel, winbank.
He adds that his firm has seen an “immediate active usage” from customers of contactless payments, especially on mobile.
“Thus, we decided to launch winbank pay directly through our mobile banking application for digitising both Visa and Mastercard cards.”
Piraeus cooperated with Antelope “from the early beginning”, says Petrakis. Integrating winbank into the mobile banking app required expertise of easy deployment with core banking systems.
“It is essential to find a partner with such a level of cooperation like we have with Antelop,” says Petrakis.
Antelop, founded by ex-Visa employees, has a partnership with Piraeus first signed in early 2018.
“We are honoured by Piraeus Bank’s trust and glad to help the Bank build the future of digital cards” says Timothée Grüner, chief commercial officer of Antelop.
“Through winbank pay, Piraeus Bank customers can instantly digitise their Visa or Mastercard cards and perform seamless NFC mobile payments, all from their daily banking app.”
