SEB signs Google Cloud partnership extension
Nordic bank SEB has signed an extended partnership deal with Google Cloud for the launch of new cloud-based banking services.
SEB’s innovation studio and SEBx banking platform are already deployed using Google infrastructure, but the new deal sees Google solutions implemented more widely across the bank.
Google’s cloud services are deploying across retail and corporate banking, risk analysis, financial reporting, and data management.
SEB says the two firms will collaborated on new solutions to provide a better user experience for customers.
Johan Torgeby, the bank’s president and CEO, says the partnership is “an important step in SEB’s technological transformation”.
“Together with Google Cloud, we will start the journey to the cloud and accelerate our digitisation plan.”
Toregby adds that the partnership will enable SEB to use data in “a more intelligent way” and speed up the creation of “new innovative solutions” for customers.
“The financial services industry is rapidly changing to meet rising customer expectations,” says Thomas Kurian, CEO at Google Cloud.
“Together with SEB, we’ll collaborate on new products based on data, analytics, and AI that will create even better user experiences and will transform the industry as a whole.”
Google Cloud has signed a handful of new partnerships with major banks in the past 12 months. These include BBVA, Deutsche Bank, Cynergy Bank, Lloyds Bank, and BNY Mellon.
SEB launched the beta version of its combined personal and business card, Unquo, in September 2020.
The app, a product of SEBx, can capture receipts, automate bookkeeping and expense management reports, and calculate VAT.
